We believe it’s time to step in and protect the oceans we love.

We love the ocean. And we love most everything that comes with being near it. Those long, lazy summer days, barefoot walks along the shoreline, cool drinks, warm skin, and priceless memories forged with family and friends.

But there’s one thing we don’t love about coastal living – the ugly bits of plastic that are polluting once-pristine habitats. This discarded stuff is not only an eyesore, but also a huge risk to coastal ecosystems and our health.

Single-Use Plastics By The Truckload

Imagine a garbage truck crammed with plastic bags, bottles and straws backing up and dumping its load into the sea. It’s hard to fathom, yet that much single-use plastic enters our waterways every minute of every day. It results in the deaths of thousands of marine animals and sea birds.

Here at COAST APPAREL central, we believe it’s time to step in and protect the oceans, beaches, sea critters and people we love. So, through our new COAST IS CLEAR initiative, we want to do our part to help in the fight against disposable plastics. Our initiative is grounded on these four guiding principles:

1. Raising Awareness – The plastic pollution problem is real and we believe information is power! The COAST Blog is packed with insightful information AND practical tips on easy ways to reduce plastic consumption.
2. Giving Back – We want to support the organizations that are making huge strides against plastic pollution. So, we’re putting our money where our mouth is by donating 5% of sales for each product purchased in our COAST IS CLEAR collection to the Plastic Pollution Coalition.
3. Plastic Alternatives – We provide alternatives to the single-use plastics that are wreaking havoc on our beaches and oceans that we love. Instead of stocking up on bottled water for our trips to the beach, we take reusable water bottles and stainless steel straws.
4. Recycling Plastics – We do our best to talk the talk and walk the walk by encouraging products like reusable tote bags that are made from recycled plastics. Plus, we provide oodles of information on how to be more green in our weekly blog.

We are thrilled to partner with Plastic Pollution Coalition because like us, they are dedicated to making a difference. With their global alliance of individuals, organizations and policymakers, the PPC will help us turn each ripple of difference we make into a tidal wave of change.
