A Picture Worth A Thousand Curse Words
If you want to curse like a sailor, just take a sail around some of the world’s worst plastic-polluted beaches and vast stretches of dead seas and cluttered oceans. We’ll make it easier on you – just give this three-minute video from National Geographic a view.
After watching this eye-popping expose, by National Geographic, we gave it a “sea negative” grade. But not before we muttered a few choice words for damaging effects single-use plastics have had on our waterways and the health risk they pose for man and marine animals.
It’s just shocking to watch dolphins and other sea creatures nibbling on the bits of debris that litter their landscape and endanger their life.
There are a few bright spots and areas for optimism, but the overall focus is a grim view of dead zones and debris floating about before sinking out of sight to the sea floor.
WARNING: Watching this video will convince you to give up single-use plastics and turn to reusable products such as shopping totes made from recycled plastics and stainless steel water bottles and drinking straws.
